In the picturesque hills of the Sierra Nevada rests a winery destined
to create some of the finest wines the region has to offer, Sogno
(sewn-yo). Italian for dream, this winery truly is a dream
come true for the Davis family. In 1998, Richard, Jackie, Eric and
Summer purchased the land and the original Hodgkins homestead dating
back to the 1880s. Long used for farming and gold mining, if you
walk down by the creek you can still see remnants of the prospecting
equipment long abandoned by those who sought their fortune. Today,
the land is blanketed with rows of vines, evidence of a dream fulfilled.
Pursuing
our philosophy of hand-crafted, low input winemaking, at Sogno
we believe the less we manipulate the wine, the more flavor and
complexity you will enjoy in every glass. To accomplish this, we
move wine by gravity whenever possible and allow the wine to mature
in our unique underground storage cave, the perfect environment
for slow, gentle, barrel aging. The result is wine that tempts the
senses. Wine that can be enjoyed on its own or as the perfect accompaniment
to any meal.
